Kenneth Del Vecchio’s Hoboken International Film Festival (HIFF) will be held from Fri., May 17 to Thurs., May 23 at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park in Greenwood Lake.
The opening night celebration on Fri., May 17 will feature the presentation of the Festival’s 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award in Acting, hosted by comedian Buddy Fitzpatrick. Sponsors and local businesses will provide entertainment and refreshments to the crowd as stars and filmmakers walk the red carpet.
The evening will culminate with the worldwide premiere screening of “A Karate Christmas Miracle.” The film stars Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Pope of Greenwich Village), Martin Kove (The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai), Julie McCullough (Growing Pains), Mila Milosovic (Yellow Scare), and Mario Del Vecchio (The Brawler).
A Karate Christmas Miracle is an inspirational, thrill-ride family Christmas movie. The film was written and produced by HIFF Chairman Kenneth Del Vecchio and written and directed by HIFF Vice-Chair Julie Kimmel.
HIFF will feature a week of screenings of some of the world’s most cutting-edge movies along with appearances by filmmakers and actors from dozens of states and numerous countries. Screenings will be held at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park; Cove Castle Restaurant, located at 13 Castle St.; and the Elks Lodge, located at 35 Chestnut St.
The HIFF Gala Awards Ceremony will be held on Thurs., May 23 at the Thomas P. Morahan Waterfront Park and will be hosted by stand-up comedian Gilbert Gottfried. Actor Jason London (from the movies Dazed and Confused and The Man on the Moon) will be awarded the Excellence in Acting Award.
