It’s beach season again. The Warwick Town Beach, located at the end of Windermere Ave. in the Village of Greenwood Lake, is now open weekends for your enjoyment. The beach, open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., is staffed by certified lifeguards and provides picnic areas, as well as restroom and shower facilities. Daily passes are available at the gate and both resident as well as non-resident passes are available at the Town Clerk’s office at the Warwick Town Hall, Mon. through Fri. from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting on Sat., Jun. 29, the beach will be open seven days a week through Labor Day, Mon., Sept. 2. Enjoy!
The next Household Hazardous Waste collection day will be Sat., Jun. 8 at the Port Jervis High School (lower parking lot), located at 10 Rte. 209 in Port Jervis, NY. This is a great opportunity to safely dispose of all those old chemicals and sprays that accumulate around the house. This service is free of charge to Orange County residents, with proof of residency (driver’s license or utility bill with Orange County address). For more information, call 291-3246 or visit www.orangecountygov.com/efs and click on the Household Hazardous Waste tab.
Construction has begun on the sidewalks and the front steps at Town Hall. The first phase will be the sidewalks from the first handicap space near the front of the building around to the rear of the Town Hall adjacent to the courts. Once completed, access to the Town Hall will be via the rear of the building while the front steps and landing are replaced. Signs will be posted to direct you and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience. However, this project is long overdue and we look forward to its completion. By re-bidding this project, the Town has saved over $25,000!
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Jun. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.
The above column, written by Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton, will be published in the May 29 issue of the Warwick Valley Dispatch.
