Time is running out to get tickets to our annual Senior BBQ to be held this year on Tues., Aug. 28. This event is free to any senior citizen residing in the Town of Warwick, thanks to the generous donations of so many community service organizations, our Veterans’ groups, the Warwick Valley Rotary and the support of many volunteers. Our seniors will be served lunch prepared by Fetch Executive Chef, Paul Karas, and a complete chicken dinner, prepared by local chef, Mike Coleman, of Mike’s Custom BBQ. A fun-filled day kicks off at 11 a.m. at Union Corners Park. This event is free to any senior citizen in our Town, but you do need a ticket which can be obtained through one of our seven senior citizen organizations or by stopping by the Supervisor’s Office in the Warwick Town Hall, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mark your calendars, and don’t miss this opportunity to have your community say thanks for all you have done to make this a great place to live.
This past week we welcomed Citiva Medical, a subsidiary of iAnthus, to the Warwick Tech Park. Their $10 Million state of the art production facility will produce up to 100 jobs and property tax revenue for the first time. This facility will ship finished product to one of five dispensaries they have in New York State where it will be available via prescription. Every day more and more success stories are being written of people gaining relief from chronic pain, Parkinson’s disease and other ailments that are currently being treated with opioids. Once construction is well underway they will provide us a contact for prospective job seekers.
A big thank you to Grace Community Church, who participated in a volunteer effort called The Give Hope Movement. Volunteers from Grace conducted several efforts around Town that helped those in need, beautified a focal point in the community and provided gestures of thanks to those who serve the public. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.
