I was honored to attend the Valentines for Vet’s event at the Warwick Middle School. I cannot express how proud I am of these young students, as well as the teachers and staff, who put on a full breakfast for our veterans. They also entertained the “troops” with rousing musical tributes to all the armed services. Every veteran got the chance to talk and visit with the students as they broke bread together. It was amazing to watch the concepts of love of Country and commitment to the service necessary to preserve our freedoms being passed to the next generation.
The Warwick Town Board has joined the HeatSmart program, which has great potential to both support our community-wide climate action goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to offer residents the opportunity to learn about the many benefits associated with clean energy heating/cooling systems and determine if they can turn their interest into action. Our Town Board has already passed a resolution in support of the HeatSmart program and is committed to making the campaign a success. We will enthusiastically work with HeatSmart Orange County on all aspects of the campaign including vetting and selecting installers, promoting a 20-week campaign, utilizing volunteer teams and community organizations, celebrating and sharing results, and using campaign success to help increase adoption of other clean-efficient energy solutions in our community.
The town will be sharing announcements with all residents in the coming weeks that will give program information and an invitation to the HeatSmart launch event. Town leaders will attend the HeatSmart launch and subsequent workshops. Campaign information and updates will be included on the Town’s Facebook page, on the Town of Warwick website and at Town offices. Stay tuned!
