The Town’s parks are now open for your summer/fall enjoyment. There are pavilions and an event hall for rent by residents, recreational sports fields, a dog park, a beach, boating, hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail), and incredible vistas. Music concert series are lined up in the Villages of Warwick and Greenwood Lake, as well as the Warwick Arts Festival and the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival. Our valley is dotted with craft breweries, wineries and cideries, as well as world class restaurants. Events galore await in your own backyard, so get out and enjoy all our Town has to offer.
This past week we lost three incredible people who each touched our community but also me personally. Joan Park was a longtime Deputy Clerk here at the Town Hall and could always bring a smile to your face. She was “old” Warwick but gladly made the newest resident feel welcome. For me, she always kept me on my toes, with quick wit, humor and sometimes a blunt word, and I’m sure I deserved it. Henry Lendzian was a long time member of our largest senior club, a WWII Veteran and just a man who always had a kind word and a smile. He was caring, gentle and kind to everyone. He never failed to brighten my day no matter how bad it was. Bridie O’Neill was one of the first members of the Greenwood Lake Gaelic Society I met, and after a few minutes it was like I was a member of her family. She always made you welcome and was an ambassador for the renowned spirit and friendliness of the Irish people. All three have made this a better place for all of us. RIP.
It’s beach season again. The Town Beach, located at the end of Windermere Ave. in the Village of Greenwood Lake, is now open weekends for your enjoyment. The beach, open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., is staffed by certified lifeguards and provides picnic areas, as well as restroom and shower facilities. Daily passes are available at the gate, and both resident as well as non-resident passes are available at the Town Clerk’s office in the Warwick Town Hall, Mon. through Fri., 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting Sat., June 23, the beach will be open seven days a week through Labor Day, Sept. 3. Enjoy!
