Warwick Playground Dreams is tremendously grateful to the Village of Warwick Department of Public Works (DPW), Village Engineers Lehman & Getz, and Schmick Surveying Inc. for all of the hard work they have put in to getting the playground site prepared for Build Week, which is currently underway at Stanley-Deming Park in Warwick. Members of the community have come through with amazing support, lending the tools that are making the build possible.
On Thurs., Apr. 18, the Village DPW and Dave Getz put in a very long day digging all of the holes for the playground structure’s support posts. Tools have been collected and tagged, and were organized on Sat. Apr. 20 late into the evening, by Warwick Playground Dreams Committee President Hannelore Chambers, and committee members George Foster, Aly Metcalf, Michael Hodge, and Amanda Panetta.
Local volunteers Tony and Anthony Donato from FM Designs generously designed and cut out over 130 apples and leaves out of Trex for the Apple Orchard Rock Climbing Wall and Apple Treehouse, which will be just two of many features that will make the playground truly “Warwick” in its design. They will also engrave the dedications on all of the sponsored park benches.
In recent weeks, children from Golden Hill Elementary, Park Avenue Elementary, Sanfordville Elementary, and St. Stephens-St. Edward school, as well as scout troops in both Greenwood Lake and Warwick contributed by painting the Trex apples, thus leaving their own mark on the playground they will be soon to enjoy.
