Veterans Day is traditionally celebrated on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour and it is one of two somber national holidays which honor the men and women who have dedicated and given their lives to serve their Country. The Village of Florida held their Veterans Day ceremony on Fri., Nov. 11 at the Veterans Memorial on Main St. The event was hosted by the Florida American Legion Post 1250.
The ceremony began with Boy Scout Pack 44 leading participants in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Pledge was followed by a prayer in remembrance of all those who serve and have served. Post Commander Fray Fuller then spoke to the group about thankfulness and invited others in the Legion to speak in remembrance. Beth Fuller, President of the Ladies Auxiliary, spoke about how war touches everyone – not just the soldiers and their families.
