A Volunteer’s Heart
What’s in a Volunteer Heart? We were asked what this meant to us during our 150th Anniversary interviews. It is the heart of Warwick! It is made up of extraordinary men and women of our community who give selflessly, providing service over self day in and day out. We thank our 50- and 60-year active firefighters who are our guiding light, providing guidance and knowledge to our younger firefighters. We thank all of our members who make up the volunteer heart and who spend countless hours, days, nights, and weekends giving. You are all the heart of the WFD and for that we thank you!
The WFD participated in the Warwick Chamber of Commerce Community Showcase held on Sat., May 4 and was able to showcase our apparatus and Fire Prevention materials from the Fire Prevention Team. Thank you to the Chamber for hosting such an amazing business community networking event.
Fire Prevention Report
The WFD Fire Prevention Report urges residents to follow safety tips that can be found at www.NFPA.org or by following The Warwick Fire Department on Facebook. The Team reminds all residents that a burn ban is still in effect until Wed., May 15, as ordered by the State of NY. For burn ban information, contact the NYS DEC.
The WFD provides these ways to prevent fire incidents: avoid unattended or careless use of candles, keep BBQ grills at least 10 feet from the house, do not disable smoke or CO detectors, do not smoke indoors, and do not leave your cooking unattended.
