The Warwick Fire Department (WFD) reports that for the year to date they have responded to 373 calls for service including the annual standby for the Warwick Labor Day 5K Race and a standby for Stony Point FD for the annual Rockland Fire Parade. They also participated in fire company drills .
Watch for Stopped or Moving School Buses
The members of the WFD hope returning students and staff of the Warwick Valley Central School District had a successful return to school. We ask all residents to watch for stopped or moving school buses to ensure the safety of children.
Move Aside for First Responders
Please watch for first responders utilizing personal vehicles responding to emergencies. Every second counts in an emergency and first responders need the help of residents. When residents see a blue light for a firefighter or a green light for emergency medical personnel they are courtesy lights, so they are asking for courtesy to safely pull off to the shoulder of the road to let them pass.
Fall Home Safety Tips
The Warwick FD hopes that residents have enjoyed the summer and as summer winds down, with cooler weather upon us, please be sure to continuously check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Also, the Warwick FD encourages homeowners and landlords to have residential boilers or home heating systems, including chimneys, cleaned to ensure systems are in working order.
We also ask you to assist Emergency Service Agencies by having house numbers easily visible on the mailbox or on the front of the residence for responders to locate the home in case of an emergency. In addition, we ask that drivers to have their vehicles scheduled for maintenance to get ready for the cooler months ahead to ensure safe travels on roadways.
