For the period from Mon., Apr. 30 to Mon., May 7, the Department responded to three residential smoke alarm activations; two commercial fire alarm activations; one illegal burn/outside fire; and an odor of gas in a residence complaint.
The WFD also held their monthly four Company Department Drill and participated in their monthly Department Rope Rescue Drill with the Monroe Fire Department.
The WFD Fire Prevention Team and Historical Committee attended the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce’s “Community Showcase” event Sat., May 5 in the Village of Warwick.
Fire Prevention Tips
The WFD Fire Prevention Team urges residents not to burn because the NYS DEC Outdoor Burn Ban is in effect now through Tues., May 15. There has been a decrease in outdoor fires of 37% since 2009. Please use caution while using BBQ grills, chimeneas, etc. Always have a water hose ready and call 911 in an emergency.
