The crew team at Warwick Valley High School is considered a club sport and as such receives no funding from the district. All funds must be raised by the crew team itself, including the purchase of any new equipment.
The team has been working to purchase a used four-man shell which costs between $10,000 and $15,000. Through the generosity of the Warwick Lions Club, they are getting closer to their goal.
The Warwick Lions Club donated $2000 to the crew team which brings the total to $7000 towards the purchase of the four-man shell. The team hopes to raise the remaining funds in time to purchase the shell before the start of the Spring 2020 racing season.
“We are so grateful for the Lions Club support! Newer shells are much lighter and move faster through the water. Having new equipment is key to the team’s success and we could not do it without the support of our caring community members,” stated Vikki Garby, Warwick Crew Booster Club President.
