The Warwick Valley Central School District Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting and regular Board meeting on Mon., Jul. 1 in the Warwick High School media center.
The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance and a series of oaths taken by District Superintendent Dr. David Leach and District Board Clerk Susan Laroe. Board members Denise Ginley and Eileen Gagliano also took their oaths of office.
Issues before the Board included Trust Funds and a District Special Education Plan as well as additional Board nominations. All motions were carried and the Warwick Valley Dispatch is still one of the official District newspapers!
The regular board meeting kicked off with a discussion about the new high school principal, Mrs. Marguerite Fusco, who was praised by Dr. David Leach.
“I believe Mrs. Fusco will be an excellent principal as she has years of experience being a teacher,” said Dr. Leach.
Her new position was celebrated by all. This was not the end of the joyous things to be said about Warwick. Dr. Leach also stated that Warwick was declared the “greatest school district in the Hudson Valley” and that Warwick High School is “one of the top performing high schools in the region.”
Other motions brought up at the regular meeting included the approval of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) field trips and volunteers as well as transfers of funds. All of the motions made at the meeting were approved.
It was also announced that the Warwick Valley Middle School media center is about two weeks away from completion. This will allow middle school students to enjoy a nice, new media room and have a great place to get work done.
