Welcome smiles and warm winter outerwear greeted children and families who attended the Warwick Valley Knights of Columbus (KOC) Council 4952’s annual Coats for Kids event at St. Stephen’s-St. Edward’s RC Church in Warwick on Sun., Nov. 4.
Individuals were invited to attend the afternoon event, where for the first time, the Knights themselves gave out the free coats. For the past 20 years or so, the KOC donations were distributed through the Alamo and the Hope Chest, both in Pine Island.
“We never got to see the kids’ faces enjoying these gifts, and so now we are happy that we can do this ourselves,” commented KOC Grand Knight Lloyd Van Duzer, expressing that he is proud to represent the Church and the Congregation on these important efforts.
“The Knights have always shown how much they enjoy being involved in a number of outreach programs,” said Father Jack Arlotta, St. Stephen’s-St. Edward’s Pastor, adding that the KOC, “makes a difference in my life and my work as they are always counted on to pitch in and lend a hand.”
The next KOC event is a free dinner on Thanksgiving Day, Thurs., Nov. 22 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. All are welcome, and volunteers are needed. For more call Mat Rough at 258-8511.
