The Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild held their annual luncheon on Tues., Jun. 11 at the Warwick Senior Center. They welcomed, Kim Regenstorfer, from the Orange County Department of Social Services to accept 175 “Comfort Bags” created by guild members for use during foster children’s transitions.
Earlier this month, the 2019 Phyllis Klein Scholarship was awarded to Abigail Citarella. Abigail will graduate from the Warwick Valley Central School District. She began sewing at age 10 when she received a sewing machine for her birthday.
Abigail has worked as a summer intern at the Surflight Theater in Beach Haven, NJ, where she assisted the costume designers with alterations, sewing accessories and organizing costumes. She submitted a picture of a Newspaper Dress as her sample. The dress was designed and constructed in the Warwick Valley High School Fashion Design class. It was intended to mimic a fitted corset with boning in the bodice and the bottom of the dress folded into fans to create a sense of movement.
She will be attending SUNY Purchase pursuing a BFA major in Theatre Production and Design. For more information about the guild, visit www.wvqg.org.
