The Warwick Valley High School Drama Club has announced the productions of their 2018-19 theater season. This fall, the Drama Club brings back their “Literature to Stage Series” with a live, onstage adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ classic novel, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Many of the wonderful characters from the beloved story are present in this production, including Aslan, the White Witch, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, Mr. Tumnus, and the four children who enter the wondrous and magical wardrobe. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will be presented on Fri., Nov. 2 and Sat., Nov. 3.
In the spring, the Drama Club is thrilled to debut the mega-hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia!. This sunny and funny tale, featuring the songs of supergroup ABBA, tells the hilarious story of a young woman’s search for her birth father. On the eve of her wedding, the daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years before. Mamma Mia! will be performed on Fri., Mar. 15 and Sat., Mar. 16.
Both productions will be directed by Nick DiLeo, who is celebrating his 20th anniversary as the Club’s advisor. Joining him will be Donna Nestor as producer, Beth Maisonet as choreographer, and Chris Persad and Noreen Hanson as musical directors.
