Warwick Valley H.S. is proud to honor Jacob Gaydos as this week’s Warwick H.S. Student–Athlete of the Week, sponsored locally by Allstate Insurance Bill Garcia Agency.
Jacob is co–captain of the varsity crew team and competes in the men’s varsity eight. He took third place in the NYS Championships and is a national qualifier for the Men’s Lightweight four. Crew competes in both the fall and spring seasons and Jacob has been a key contributor for four years.
Jacob’s academic accomplishments rival the top students in the country. He is a recipient of the Junior Science Research Scholarship and took a research trip to Tel Aviv University this past summer for bat echolocation. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society as Treasurer, an Elementary Odyssey of the Mind Coach, a Model U.N. Delegate, and competes in the Orange County Academic League.
His weighted grade point average is 104.7 and hi is ranked third in his class of over 330 students. Jacob is a principal violinist and treasurer for the Chamber Strings. He has applied to Brown University, Amherst College and Swarthmore College, with plans to study Molecular Biology.
Jacob is the son of Henry Gaydos and Christine Hosselet of Warwick, and has a brother, Henry, in the seventh grade.
