Hannah Hamling, a senior at Warwick Valley High School (WVHS) and a member of the volleyball team, has received a Letter of Commitment to attend Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in the fall.
A four-year varsity starter and middle hitter, Hannah was the senior captain of the 2016 and 2017 Wildcats and a leader in kills and blocks for the Division champion team. She is a four-time Times Herald Record volleyball all star and an NYSSWA “AA” volleyball all state selection.
Hannah plans to train this summer in Finland with the Finland National Team. She was also selected for the USA Volleyball High Performance National Training Program and is a member of the USA New York Travel Program.
Hannah was recruited by Georgetown University head coach Toby Rens. Georgetown competes in the Big East Conference along with Villanova, Creighton, Xavier, and Butler. She also received interest from Harvard University, the University of Pittsburgh, George Washington University, and the University of Pennsylvania. Hannah plans to study bio medical engineering.
Among her academic accomplishments, Hannah has a grade point average of 104.1 and is ranked fifth out of 325 seniors, putting her in the top two percent of her class. She is a four-year NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete, a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, the Interact Club, the Model UN, and the Debate Club. Her academic schedule includes classes in AP Calculus, AP Government, AP Biology, and AP Literature.
Hannah is the daughter of Caroline Hamling, a member of the WVHS Class of 1979 and David Hamling, a member of the WVHS Class of 1977. Her sister, Luci, is a 2009 Warwick NY graduate and a nursing student at LIU and her brother, Cole, is a 2007 Warwick graduate who is employed at Zircar Ceramics.
