Gina Milazzo, of Greenwood Lake, is only 12 years old and on her way to becoming a Pro Golfer. Gina, a seventh grader and an honor roll student at the Greenwood Lake Middle School, resides at home with her parents, Ray and Janna; her, sisters Alexa and Jessica; along with two dogs, Bella and Capri.
Gina, who has been golfing around the age of eight, showed an interest in golf at a young age and never lost her enthusiasm. She has already participated in 49 tournaments since 2017, and has had 38 top five finishes, along with twelve victories.
Gina has participated in several golf tours such as the U.S. Kids NJ Tour, U.S. Kids NYC/Long Island Sound Tour, USSSA Junior Golf Tour, and the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour. In 2018, she was named “Player of the Year” for the U.S. Kids Golf NYC/Long Island Sound and was the USSSA Junior Golf Tour “Player of the Year.”
“My dreams and future plans are to continue golf forever, to be part of the LPGA, and to teach golf to junior golfers around the world,” said Gina, who is currently under the guidance of head coach/tour professional J.C. Carbonell of Myrtle Beach S.C.
She has attended the Golf School of Myrtle Beach, the Leadbetter Academy in the state of Florida, and the Hudson Valley Junior Golf Academy. Gina hopes to make the Warwick varsity golf team as a seventh grader and hopes to gain a scholarship through golf.
“I love to play golf because it is a lot more than just a game. I get to travel to many new places, meet so many different friends from around the world and learn so much about myself. I also love that golf is independent, when you lose it’s no one’s fault but your own. When you win – YOU win – and you did the work,” said Gina.
During the week and on weekends Gina is competing, practicing, or reviewing the rules of the game. She can often be found on her home course at the Hickory Hill Golf Course in Warwick practicing hard or enjoying a game of golf with her dad. In her free time she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and road trips with her family.
