Supervisor Sweeton: Ride Transit Orange

Local News News & Updates

There is still time to fill your holiday gift list in one of our three Villages or the many hamlets, including Pine Island. Our many merchants and fine restaurants are decked out in their finery, brimming with exciting gift ideas and staffed by the friendliest employees to meet your every need.  Help support our local economy, and you won’t be disappointed!

The Orange County Planning Department is developing an exciting new computer based application called “Ridetransitorange.com” that is designed to show you how to get from Point A to Point B using public transportation.  This new program is undergoing testing, so you are encouraged to go online and try it out.  They are looking for your feedback, either by emailing “feedback@transitorange.com” or by calling 615-3850. Since Warwick has such a vibrant bus system we are excited to use this service to offer our residents even more choices.

Our Friendly Visitor Program is really taking off and has successfully kept more of our senior citizens remaining in their homes.  Through the generous volunteers in our community this service is free of charge to any senior from the Town of Warwick.  If you would like more information on the services or wish to learn how to volunteer, call 986-1124, ext. 400, and leave your name and contact number.  Jean, our Coordinator, will call you back.

There will be lighting of the Menorah on Sun., Dec. 22 at 4:45 p.m. in Lewis Park in Warwick Village on Sun., Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Greenwood Lake Ambulance building and on Mon., Dec. 23 at Village Hall in Florida.  Come celebrate!

The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.

The above column, written by Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton, has been published in the Dec. 18 issue of the Warwick Valley Dispatch.
