Mayor Dwyer: Village Continues to Benefit from Local Eagle Scout Projects

Local News News & Updates

Last week, another Eagle Scout candidate, Kevin Holder, completed an Eagle Project in the Village of Greenwood Lake. Kevin found out that the Village took over the old firehouse and had plans for using the upstairs for community events and local organizations.

Kevin approached me with the idea of fully renovating the upstairs of the community center for his Eagle Project. At first, I thought this was too big a task to let a volunteer perform, but I requested that Kevin put together a plan and prove he’ll be able to tackle the challenge. Kevin prepared a plan, timeline, team outline for assistance and a budget for the project.

Well, I sit here today one week after the project was completed to say that unlike most government projects, Kevin’s project was completed under budget and ahead of schedule. On top of that, the room came out perfect! Kevin Holder, like many others before him who have embarked on improving their communities with Eagle Projects, has made us all proud and I guarantee he will go on to do great things in life.

On behalf of the Village Board, I would like to thank Kevin and everyone who contributed to this outstanding Eagle Project.
