Supervisor Sweeton: PD Draft Plan Available for Review Online

Local News News & Updates

For Town information log on to www.townofwarwick.org  or tune to Cablevision Municipal Channel 21.

On the 12th of June, Governor Andrew Cuomo issued EO 203 as a direct result of the horrendous murder of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota. That EO required the Chief Executive of any municipality in NYS that had a police department to convene a panel of the head of the police agency and stakeholders in the community to conduct a review of the policies and procedures of the community’s department.

Those panel discussions took place late last year and can be viewed on the town of Warwick’s YouTube channel. A draft plan will be placed on the Town’s website on Wed., Feb. 17 for the public to review and comment. The plan is a direct result of the panel discussions and the numerous pieces of correspondence received throughout the process. All of this correspondence, comments during the live panel discussions and supporting documents will be included as an appendix to the plan.

Comments can be made via email to townhall@townofwarwick.org, by mail to 132 Kings Highway, Warwick, NY 10990 or live on Tues., Mar. 9 at 7 p.m. via a zoom public meeting at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83322023315?pwd=V0t2VU9kM1lBcGFTUlJBUVhNTmo4dz09 Meeting ID: 833 2202 3315 Passcode: 062644

Our Orange County government has set up a link:

https://www.vaccination.orangecountygov.com to help those 65 and older get registered and in line for a vaccine.  It will allow you to get updates on the distribution process. If you are a senior you can also call the Orange County Office for the Aging at 615-3700, leave your information and someone will call you back. New York State also announced today pharmacies will start to receive vaccines next week.  To try for an appointment with CVS go to www.cvs.com, and check it frequently. The vaccine roll out has been uneven, frustrating and in many cases impossible for those most vulnerable, our seniors. Hopefully with supplies increasing and help like the site above will begin to make the process easier.  Check the town website at www.townofwarwick.org in the Facebook section of the homepage for updates.

A continuation of the joint public hearing with the Village of Warwick to consider the annexation of a 0.6-acre parcel to the proposed Valley View Subdivision will be held at 7 p.m. on Thurs., Feb. 25 in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Hwy., Warwick.

The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall.
