Rossi & Berrigan Run for AWPL Board of Trustees

Local News News & Updates

The annual Albert Wisner Public Library Trustee election is scheduled for Tues., May 18 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Due to the economic impact of COVID-19 on the community, the Library Board will not request an increase in public funding to support the Library’s 2021-2022 operating budget.

While the Library’s funding is not subject to a vote this year, there are two Library Trustee positions open.  One is for a full five-year term, and the other is to complete an unexpired term that ends in three years.

Wayne Rossi and Mary Berrigan are on the ballot for this year’s open positions.

Wayne Rossi said, “For many years I have been fortunate to serve on the Albert Wisner Public Library Board of Trustees.  Throughout my life, public libraries have provided knowledge and learning in a safe, comfortable environment.  The Library staff, Director and members of the Board have tried to nurture and maintain this type of environment allowing our community to feel safe while satisfying the needs of our patrons.”

Mary Berrigan said, “I am a long-time resident of Warwick where my daughter grew up and attended Warwick schools. I retired from the Vernon School District several years ago where I worked as a speech therapist and third grade teacher.  Because of my love of the Warwick community, I have been involved with a number of local organizations over the years including the AWPL Friends of the Library, the Warwick Historical Society and Warwick Valley Gardeners.  I have been involved with the Warwick Migrant Community.  I tutor (remotely during the pandemic) at the Alamo and work with children in the summer program at the Pine Island School.”

All registered voters of the Warwick Valley Central School District (WVCSD) are eligible to vote on these two Trustee positions.  Voting will be in person at the normal school voting locations, not at the Library. Check the Library’s website for more information www.albertwisnerlibrary.org.
