Supervisor Sweeton: Volunteer & Employment Opportunities

Local News News & Updates

For Town information log on to www.townofwarwick.org  or tune to Cablevision Municipal Channel 21.

Our long-time Recreation Coordinator, Mike Cipolla, has decided that other obligations make it impossible to continue in this role, and he regretfully has to resign. Mike has been an outstanding asset to the Town, and we are grateful for his volunteer service on behalf of all who enjoy our extensive recreation opportunities here in the Town. The Town now is seeking someone who is willing to take on the role of Recreation Coordinator, who coordinates the various requests for field use and chairing meetings of our recreation committee.  If you have some experience in recreation programs and love our Town, email your interest to townhall@townofwarwick.org.

The Town is also seeking a volunteer to chair the board of the Friendly Visitor Program, which is our volunteer group that works with our Friendly Visitor Program Coordinator on policy issues. This board meets quarterly. If interested send an email to townhall@townofwarwick.org.

A Too Good to Toss event will be held on Sat., June 12 and Sun., June 13 at participating households throughout the Town and Village of Warwick. Too Good to Toss has been an annual non-profit volunteer-run event in Warwick since 2017 that aims to keep perfectly good items out of landfills. This year, due to the pandemic, there will be a modified swap event where up to 100 Warwick households will bring their items that are Too Good to Toss outside of their home for “shoppers” to take away.  While it won’t be held on the basketball court in Stanley-Deming Park as in the past years, the goods are still free! If you have questions please contact event organizers Elizabeth Knight-Moss at EknightMoss@gmail.com or by calling 544-1056, or you can contact Payton Swenson at PaytonSwen@gmail.com or by calling 917-361-6119.  Please put TGTT in your email subject line.

In anticipation of opening the pools at the former Kutz Camp this summer the Town is seeking young men and women as certified lifeguards. If interested call 986-1120, ext. 241, to find out how to apply for this great summer employment opportunity.

We are still seeking suggestions for a new name for the former Kutz Camp property.  If you would like to suggest a name, please email it to townhall@townofwarwick.org.

The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., June 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.  Meeting can be viewed live on the Town of Warwick YouTube channel.
