Connor Derrick Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Connor Derrick, 21, of Archbald, Pennsylvania, was sentenced in Orange County Court to seven (7) years in prison to be followed by five (5) years of post-release supervision relative to his previous plea of guilty to Robbery in the Second Degree.

As alleged in documents filed and statements made in court, on August 14, 2025 at approximately 6:15 a.m., Derrick entered a gas station in the Town of Wallkill.  After going into the restroom, Derrick selected a drink and food and approached the cashier.  Derrick then took out what appeared to be a pistol, ordered the cashier to give him all of the money in the register, which the cashier did.  Derrick then fled to a nearby location where he was apprehended by the police.  It was later determined that the gun displayed during the robbery was a BB gun.  At the plea proceedings, Derrick admitted to forcibly stealing property and in the course of the commission of the crime he displayed what appeared to be a pistol.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the New York State Police for their investigation and the arrest of the defendant.  District Attorney Hoovler also thanked the Town of Wallkill Police Department who assisted in the investigation.

“Violent crime that endangers members of our community will and should be met with significant punishment,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “Notwithstanding the fact that, thankfully, no one was hurt in this case, people deserve to feel safe in their places of business.  We in law enforcement will not tolerate those who threaten that safety. We will continue to pursue perpetrators of violent crime in Orange County.”

The case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Ryan Greenbaum.

This criminal charge is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
