Mayor Harter: Holiday Season Kick-off

News & Updates

     Hello Florida,

The Village kicked off the holiday season with its annual tree lighting and visit from Santa! It was such a great time, and I think it had one of the largest turnouts of residents I have ever seen.

Please come out and help us celebrate our next event, the annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony, which will begin on Mon., Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. at Village Hall, located at 33 S. Main St. I hope to see you there!

You might have noticed nicely decorated Christmas trees starting to pop up around our local businesses: The Florida Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd annual Christmas tree contest will be held from Sun., Dec. 15 through Sat., Dec. 21. While enjoying the holiday season and supporting our local businesses, please participate and vote for your favorite tree; by voting you will be entered for a prize! For more information, please contact the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

And finally, I’d like to thank our Police and DPW for all their efforts with the brutal snowstorm we had last week. This storm was prolonged and produced a foot of heavy wet snow that caused tree limbs to break and power lines to snap. While clearing roads our DPW also did their garbage pickup routes, and our police were out in the storm dealing with several hazardous situations throughout the village. These jobs are not easy, and I’d just like to say thank you for what you do!
