The Albert Wisner Public Library continues to offer virtual book discussions on varied interests every month. New members are always welcome.
‘The Control of Nature’
The Science Book Group meets every 3rd Monday at 1:30 p.m. Part science, part fascinating, and always fun! On Mon., Oct. 19, join us for this month’s selection – “The Control of Nature” John McPhee’s bestselling account of places where people are locked in combat with nature. Taking us deep into these contested territories, McPhee details the strategies and tactics through which people attempt to control nature.
‘Virtual Community Read’
The Library is also offering “Virtual Community Read: Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates” on Thurs., Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. Coates presents a meditation on race in America as well as a personal story. Beautifully written, Coates’s seminal work is framed as a letter to his teenage son.
Books for both discussions are available at the Library for checkout. All are welcome to join in the virtual conversation on Zoom.
