Supervisor Sweeton: Understandable Frustration Over COVID Vaccine Delays

Local News News & Updates

For Town information log on to www.townofwarwick.org  or tune to Cablevision Municipal Channel 21.

There is plenty of frustration with the roll out of the much-anticipated COVID-19 vaccines. The phone lines are constantly busy, and the website routinely crashes. The category under 1B which includes anyone over 65 years of age is large, and the supply of vaccines is limited. We have been in touch with our State representatives, the Orange County Executive and representatives from St. Anthony Community Hospital who are all working hard to obtain and distribute as many vaccines as possible. Unfortunately, we remain at the mercy of the State and Federal government who are controlling the process. It is clear they have over promised, and we apparently are going to have to be patient, keep taking our precautions to prevent exposure and work to keep our senior population safe. To obtain an appointment if you are in the 1B group, you should continue to attempt to register until you get through at https:am-i-eligible.covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.

Town residents can drop off Christmas trees on Public Works Drive, across from the Warwick Dial A Bus building, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Jan. 31.

The lobby of Town Hall remains open during the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across our County with drop boxes to leave forms, water and sewer payments, Building Department applications, etc.  Phone numbers/emails are posted so we can provide services during this disruption.  Arrangements will be made via phone or email for each department to attend to your critical needs throughout this limited access period.
