Mayor Newhard: To Our Moms

Local News News & Updates

Mamma, Maman, Mor, Mutter, Madre, Moeder, Majka, are only a few ways to say in other languages the word we all know, Mom! Mother’s Day is truly a day of celebration and gratitude. A day of gifts, flowers, acts of kindness, and sharing love with the one who has been our teacher, guide, life coach, protector, critic, and inspiration.

Mom’s come in every shape, size, color, and temperament; so, it’s impossible to generalize. We all have a story – maybe many! These are the stories that we carry with us, that shape us over time. The truth is that moms are to be celebrated every day for probably the most difficult role on earth. On behalf of the Village Board of Trustees I would like to wish all our Warwick Moms a Happy Mother’s Day! It’s been the legacy of strong and loving mothers that has contributed to the great success of our humble dot on the map!

Outdoor dining will return starting Fri., May 14. The program will be Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. We are finalizing the participation and road closure. Please watch our Facebook posts and local papers for details.

As part of Mother’s Day weekend is the reopening of the Warwick Valley Farmers’ Market on South St. The market is a mainstay and is in its 26th year! Our Market is one of the oldest continuous markets in the Hudson Valley. We are lucky and blessed to be in a community that understands and values its agricultural roots. The market is a direct and simple way to connect to the men and women who are the face and hands of our food. If you go to their website www.warwickvalleyfarmersmarket.org, you will find what’s in season and profiles of new vendors. Hope to see you there!

The next Village Board meeting will take place on Mon., May 17 at 7:30 p.m. and will be held through Zoom videoconference and may be viewed live by the public on the Village of Warwick, NY YouTube Channel.
