The Ugly Truth

Sports

As much as I ripped into the Jets last week, I am not opposed to ripping into my own favorite team, the New York Giants who have been an embarrassment to this point in the season, 5 weeks in. They have been an abomination and look like a bunch of dudes who could not care less if they win or lose. There is 0 and I mean 0 (!!) leadership on this team right now from the top of the organization down to the concession stands. Someone needs to address the media and demand more from themselves and their teammates. Doing things like alienating the fans by making it seem like they all flip hot dogs and hamburgers for a living (hello Evan Neal) is going to dig the hole deeper. The only way to fix all this baloney is to play better. Somehow every organization in this league can look half-competent with backup and 3rd string offensive linemen. The Giants look like a pee-wee team when their superstars aren’t playing. Yes, Andrew Thomas, a top 3 OT when healthy and John Michael-Schmitz, a stud rookie center, are injured. However, they should be able to run an offense. The Giants have not scored an offensive touchdown in 145 minutes (!!) of game action. That is an atrocity. That, based on the rules of the game favoring the offense, should be impossible and illegal. This is not a one piece gets all the blame. Joe Schoen has brought in guys that stink. Brian Daboll has been awful as a coach as his team is flat in every game and severely undisciplined. Daniel Jones has made some awful reads and decisions the likes we haven’t seen since his rookie year and he is now injured. Saquon Barkley finds himself injured yet. We just detailed the offensive line. The wide receivers cannot get separation. Darren Waller has been okay. The defensive line has been super silent. Kayvon Thibodeaux has been great, only when Aziz Ojulari has been on the field at the same time, otherwise he’s been rather average. The linebacking crew has been awful. The secondary is a mess. Xavier McKinney will likely ride his ATV to a new city and team next season. The communication in the secondary has been awful. The special teams is a disgrace and even Graham Gano is missing kicks. I bet the Gatorade tastes terrible on the sideline right now too. John Mara and this group needs to get it together before they return to “laughingstock of the league” territory which many fans thought they escaped after a successful 2022 campaign. They head to Buffalo to play the Bills on Sunday night at 8:20. Buckle up, it could get uglier.  Check out my sports show: “Game Time with The Goose” every Saturday from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on WTBQ AM 1110 FM 93.5 and on WGHT Radio with co-host Zach Kruk, Sports Director of WTBQ and WGHT!
