Beloved Main Street shop says farewell to storefront, but not to the community
WARWICK — One of Warwick’s most recognizable Main Street shops will soon close its doors, marking the end of an era for a business that brought candy, nostalgia, and smiles to generations of local families.
Fizzy Lifting Soda Pop Candy Shop will close its storefront after 12 years in business, owner Sarah announced in a heartfelt message shared with customers on social media on March 24. The shop is expected to close sometime in mid to late April, though an exact closing date has not yet been announced.
The candy shop first opened in July 2014 and quickly became a fixture in the Village of Warwick, known not just for sweets and soda, but for the experience — a nostalgic store filled with classic candies, specialty sodas, gifts, and novelty treats that made it a popular stop for families, tourists, and longtime residents alike.
In her announcement, the owner described the decision as bittersweet and thanked the community for more than a decade of support.
“What began as a dream became a place where people came not just for candy, but for a little happiness, a little fun, and a lot of memories,” she wrote.
“This is not a goodbye to Warwick, and it is not necessarily goodbye to Fizzy Lifting forever. I’m not leaving town, just closing this particular storefront as life shifts.”
A Main Street Staple
Over the years, Fizzy Lifting became more than just a candy store. It was a regular stop during Applefest weekends, holiday shopping trips, after-school treats, birthday celebrations, and family outings. Many Warwick residents say it became part of growing up in the community — a place where parents who once visited as kids later brought their own children.
Small specialty shops like Fizzy Lifting have long been part of Warwick’s Main Street identity, helping give the village its small-town character and walkable downtown atmosphere that draws visitors year-round.

“I hope you’ll stop in, celebrate with us, and help me give this sweet little storefront the sendoff it deserves,” she wrote.
