On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Orange County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 15 Colden Street, Apt. 219, in the City of Newburgh. This operation concluded an extensive investigation into the sale and trafficking of fentanyl and cocaine in and around Orange County.
During the execution of the search warrant, investigators recovered 2 loaded handguns, 130.6 grams of cocaine, 0.8 grams of methamphetamine, 81.8 grams of fentanyl, and $5,106.00 in U.S. currency.
The target of the investigation was Alton Junior, age 42, who has an extensive criminal history and is on Federal and Orange County probation. Junior was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A-II felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class B felony and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C Felony.
Sheriff Arteta commended all members involved for their efforts, stating, “The dedication and professionalism of our investigators and law enforcement partners were instrumental in successfully executing this search warrant. We will continue to aggressively pursue those who traffic dangerous drugs, possess illegal firearms, and threaten the well-being of Orange County residents.”
Junior was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court and remanded to the Orange County Correctional Facility without bail.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation by the police that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
