The Merry-Go-Round

Sports

The NY Jets had their season and dreams crushed when QB Aaron Rodgers tore his achilles on the 4th play of the year. The last 3 weeks have been full of continuous backpedaling, coddling, and excuse-making. Zach Wilson has been nothing short of disappointing since he became a Jet. He never should have been a Jet. He was not the 2nd best QB going into his draft and he sure isn’t now. He had one throw during his Pro Day at BYU that made scouts say “wow” and boom, he was the 2nd overall pick. To date, he plays scared and shows an inability to properly run an offense. He played half decent against Kansas City. Remember, he was the same dreadful QB before he was gifted 2 points on a safety that flipped the entire game. He did have a critical fumble. If you listen to those around, the rest of the game evaporates him from being criticized for the fumble. However, it is okay because the Lord and Savior, not Jesus, but Aaron Rodgers is already walking well and has reunited with the team. For the Jets, if it is not one thing, it is the other. The defense, before the safety was an atrocity and allowed the Chiefs to jump out to a 17-0 lead before anyone could breathe. This defense is supposed to keep them in the game until the offense gets going. This is a 1-3 football team that travels to Denver on Sunday for an ugly matchup with the Broncos before facing Philly in Week 6. Of note, in the Kansas City game, the Jets scored 20 points. That was the first time they scored 20 or more since December 4th of last season against the Vikings. So as much as your friends will sell you on the “progress” they saw against the Chiefs, this offense still only scored 18 points. They have to find ways to generate offense. They used TE Jeremy Ruckert roughly 44% of the time on offense which is a monster upgrade from the weeks prior. I would love to see Mecole Hardman get more touches on offense. This defense needs to generate more big plays like a sack, forced fumble, pick 6, just something to generate some turnovers that lead to immediate points. Finally, stop complaining about the officials, for the love of all us fans. You have watched every fanbase moan and complain about calls yet nothing changes. For all the “bad” calls you did receive against Kansas City, they also saw some egregious calls/non-calls. It is human error. It infuriates people more when their team cannot get out of their own way. Stop blaming officials and look in the mirror.  Check out my sports show: “Game Time with The Goose” every Saturday from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on WTBQ AM 1110 FM 93.5 and on WGHT Radio with co-host Zach Kruk, Sports Director of WTBQ and WGHT!
