District Attorney Hoovler Announces 10 Year Sentence for Middletown Drug Dealer

Orange County

Christian Mojica Previously Pled Guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Christian Mojica, 35, of Middletown, was sentenced in Orange County Court to ten (10) years in prison to be followed by five (5) years of post-release supervision relative to his previous guilty plea to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree.  As part of his sentence, Mojica also forfeited $57,308 and two vehicles.

As alleged in documents filed and statements made in court, the City of Middletown Police Department conducted a months-long investigation into the sale of narcotics in and around Middletown in early 2024.  At the culmination of that investigation, the police executed judicially-authorized search warrants at Mojica’s residence in Middletown, as well as at two other locations and on his vehicles.  Recovered during the execution of the warrant was in excess of four (4) ounces of cocaine which was packaged for sale, nearly 9,000 glassines containing fentanyl and over $57,000 of United States currency, as well as digital scales, cellular phones and narcotics packaging materials.  At the plea proceedings, Mojica admitted to possessing over four (4) ounces of cocaine.

District Attorney Hoovler thanked the City of Middletown Police Department for their investigations which led to the arrest of the defendant.

“This case shows that a carefully executed, long-term investigation into narcotics trafficking can identify and bring to justice significant sources of drugs,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “While these poisons continue to end up in the hands of Orange County residents, the prosecutors from my office, together with our law enforcement partners, will not cease in our efforts to identify, arrest, convict and incarcerate major drugs dealers.  Those who choose to profit in such ways should know that a lengthy prison sentence will be waiting for them.”

The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Alexis Gregory.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
