Anthony Parrish Convicted of All Counts, Including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree
Parrish Faces up to 25 Years in Prison
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Thursday, September 10, 2026, Anthony Parrish, age 56, of Middletown, was convicted after a jury trial before the Honorable Craig Stephen Brown in the Orange County Court of all charges against him, including Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree for having repeatedly shot a man in the Town of Crawford. Parrish faces up to twenty-five (25) years in prison when he is scheduled to be sentenced on November 10, 2026. Parrish was remanded back to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury’s verdict.
As alleged at trial, on June 6, 2024 at approximately 8 a.m., Parrish went to the victim’s home in the Town of Crawford and shot him twice in the head before fleeing. Despite the grievous injuries he sustained, the victim was able to crawl out of his home and to a main road where he flagged down another person who called 911. The first responding Town of Crawford Police Sergeant had, serendipitously, been at the victim’s property on an unrelated matter the day prior, when Parrish was also at the property on a motorbike. The victim was able to indicate to the officer that the man responsible for the shooting was the man on the motorbike from the day before. Using that information, the Sergeant reviewed his body worn camera footage from the day before, identified the plate on the motorbike and identified Parrish as the perpetrator. The police put out a “be on the look out” for the defendant, who was seen by a City of Middletown Police Officer at a bus stop in Middletown. After being detained, police recovered a duffle bag which contained a loaded firearm later discovered to be the gun used in the shooting, as well as quantities of narcotics. Parrish’s DNA was located on both the gun and the drug packaging.
District Attorney Hoovler thanked the Town of Crawford Police for their investigation which led to the arrest and conviction of Parrish. District Attorney Hoovler also thanked the City of Middletown Police Department and the New York State Police for their assistance with the investigation.
“The heinous acts of this defendant, as proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury of his peers, nearly cost the victim his life,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “The incredible police work by members of multiple agencies ensured that this violent offender was located and brought to justice before he had an opportunity to abscond. The police and prosecutors assigned to this case are true professionals who have dedicated their careers to the pursuit of justice. I hope that the victim continues to heal and can take solace in the just verdict returned by the jury.”
District Attorney Hoovler highly commended Senior Assistant District Attorney David Byrne and Assistant District Attorney Cassidy Turi who prosecuted the case.
This criminal charge is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
