Firefighters Attend Hazardous Materials Drill

The Warwick Fire Department (WFD) has responded to 69 calls for service to date. During the week, the WFD officers and firefighters completed vehicle apparatus truck checks and fleet maintenance. A department drill was held at Warwick Station #1 about the topic, Bloodborne Pathogens and Hazardous Material Operations, which was instructed by Engine Company #3 firefighter and FDNY Hazardous Materials Battalion Chief Tim Rice.

  On Tues., Feb. 23, the WFD held meetings for officers and for the executive board. On Wed., Feb. 24, Engine Company #3 held an Operations Drill at Warwick Station #4. On Thurs., Feb. 25, the WFD Firefighters Assist Search Team (F.A.S.T.) held their monthly scheduled drill at Warwick Station #4. The team is made up of senior firefighters trained to remove downed firefighters from a building.

The best evenings are Mondays at 7 p.m. or the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.
